Elliott Yamin, an American Idol finalist who once topped Billboard's Hot 100 chart at #13, released his single, Broken World, in 2020. Broken World reflects on the social pain and turmoil felt across the world today, but especially in the United States. As a resident of Richmond, Virginia, a city with an increasing need to address racial inequality and tension, I understood exactly what Elliott referenced in his lyrics.
We decided to subtly incorporate lines from the song throughout this typography/lettering collage which hones in on ideas connected to inequality and social strife.
